How To Remove Chocolate Stains From Carpet

Chocolate is scrumptious and delectable, until it gets on your carpet. Don’t worry though, chocolate is generally easily removed from carpet. First, gently remove as much of the chocolate solids as possible using a dull knife or a spoon. Then, try one of the methods below to rid your carpet of that very noticeable chocolate stain.

Method #1 - Try using rubbing alcohol on the chocolate stain. Dampen a paper towel or white cleaning towel with rubbing alcohol and blot the chocolate stain. Work the stain from the outside edges in toward the center so as not to spread the stain. Keep changing to a clean area of the towel to blot with. Get another towel dampened with rubbing alcohol if necessary and blot the stain until gone. Once the stain is gone, blot up any excess rubbing alcohol with a dry paper towel. Rinse the area with a little cold water and soak up the moisture with dry paper towels. Stand on the towels to soak up as much of the moisture as possible.

Method #2 - Try a liquid dish soap solution. Mix 1 teaspoon of dish soap with 4 cups of cool water. Dampen a white towel with the solution and gently blot the chocolate stain to remove. Rinse the towel in the solution and squeeze out excess moisture. Keep working at the stain until gone. Blot up any excess solution and moisture with a dry towel. Rinse the area with cold water and soak up the moisture with a dry towel or paper towel.

Method #3 – Try using a quality carpet stain remover such as Spot Shot (blue can with orange lid). Spray the stain remover directly onto the stain. Blot the stain from the outside in using paper towels. Keep moving to a clean part of the towel. Reapply stain remover as necessary. Once the stain is gone, blot up any stain remover with a dry paper towel. Rinse the area with a small amount of cold water and soak up the moisture with dry paper towels to soak up as much of the moisture as possible.
