Carpet Cleaning: How To Remove Nail Polish From Carpet in Gilbert, AZ

Five Star Carpet Cleaning & Restoration in Gilbert, AZ

It quickly becomes a terrible day in Gilbert, AZ when you spill that bright red nail polish on your cream-colored carpet. But don’t panic, there are some easy ways to remove nail polish from your carpet that you may never have even thought of.

Before you do anything else...

  • Absorb as much of the nail polish as possible. Grab a towel and gently dab the stain.
  • Don’t rub--you’ll make it much worse!

Try all of these following ideas on a tiny spot of your carpet that is not entirely visible to make sure it doesn’t damage your carpet any further.

1. Hairspray and Rubbing Alcohol

  • Wet the stain with cold water. Then spray hairspray on the stain.
  • Add a few splashes of rubbing alcohol.
  • Use a toothbrush you have lying around to scrub the stain for at least one minute.
  • While scrubbing, keep pouring cold water on the stain. Keep working the stain until it disappears.
  • Soak up all excess moisture with paper towels. Repeat process if necessary.

2. Acetone or Non-Acetone Polish Remover

  • Pour a small amount of polish remover directly on the stain.
  • Gently dab with clean area of paper towel until the stain fades.
  • Rinse with water and mild soap to get rid of as much polish remover as possible.
  • Pour plain cold water on the wet area and soak up with paper towels.

3. Window Cleaner (Windex)

  • Just blot the stain and pour window cleaner on the stain and gently scrub it in an inward circular motion.
  • Rinse the stain with some soapy water.
  • Pour plain cold water on the wet area and soak up with paper towels.

4. IF It’s Already Dry - Scrape, Cut, Scratch

If the stain is dried, before trying any of the above methods to remove nail polish from your carpet, your best bet is to scrape, cut or scratch out as much of the flaky dried polish as possible.

Once you get all the excess dried polish out of the carpet, you can begin your remedies. Remember, since the stain is dried, keep it wet.
